Reel shapes · The format library

Every shape that wins
on the feed.

Single-shot face-on talking heads do not win on social anymore. Winning reels are composed: hook frames, persona moments, demo cuts, image cards, stat callbacks, end CTAs, stitched together into one of a handful of shapes the algorithm rewards. Here are six AllUGC composes by default.

Shot types

PersonaImageDemoStatSplitCTAText

Every reel shape below is an ordered combination of these shot types. The engine picks which shape best fits the hook, then composes the shots end-to-end.

Shape 01

Founder explainer

Walk through a feature, a result, or a story.

The classic B2B / SaaS / D2C explainer. A visual hook stops the scroll, the persona earns trust by talking through the idea, an app demo proves the claim, a CTA tells the viewer where to go. Works because the visitor watches the proof before they hear the pitch.

  • If you are still doing this in a spreadsheet, watch this.
  • Three lines of code that saved us $4,000 a month.
  • The founder mode hack we learned from a $50M company.

Shape 02

List reel

Max saves and re-shares.

Enumerated content travels. The persona opens with a count, each item gets a visual card so the reel becomes referenceable, the persona closes with a save-prompt. The algorithm rewards saves more than likes; this shape is engineered for them.

Shape 03

Comparison reel

Position against an alternative.

Two things side by side make the brain finish the sentence. The split-screen opens the comparison, the persona walks the audience through what is actually different, a stat card lands the punchline, the CTA tells them where to act. Great for category education and competitor positioning.

Sample hooks

Shape 04

Tutorial

How-to and step-by-step.

Interleaved persona and demo. The persona keeps the human warmth between steps, the demo shows the work, and the persona inserts call out the easy-to-miss moments. Watch-time on tutorials is one of the strongest signals to the algorithm.

Shape 05

Q&A reel

Address objections at point-of-decision.

Open with the exact question your audience asks themselves. The text card frames the question without forcing the viewer to listen for context; the persona answers it directly; an image card stands in for receipts. Great for evergreen content because the question keeps getting searched.

Shape 06

Stat-led reel

Lead with a number that stops the scroll.

Numbers stop scrolls. Open on a big stat with no context, let the persona unpack what it actually means, show an image or screenshot as receipts, then callback the number at the end so the viewer remembers it. The shape your case studies and data-led posts want to live in.
